Now about the project, The LA Metro G Line, previously known as the Orange Line, is an existing bus route with a dedicated corridor running through the San Fernando Valley. It extends from the North Hollywood B Line station to the Chatsworth Metrolink station in the Northwest part of The Valley. The G Line BRT improvements project will improve the existing bus rapid transit system by reducing travel times and improving safety. This will be achieved through design and construction of the project’s key elements, which include grade separation and an aerial station at Sepulveda Blvd, grade separation and an aerial station at Van Nuys Blvd and Vesper Ave, railroad style gated intersections for all at grade crossings, stormwater capture systems and bike path improvements.
LA Metro has selected Valley Transit Partners to both design and construct the project through the Progressive Design build alternative delivery method. This method combines the benefits of design, build and construction manager, general contractor or CM/GC, and it maximizes collaboration between the owner, LA Metro, and the designer-contractor, Valley Transit Partners. This two phased approach includes pre-construction and construction services and presents opportunities for small businesses and disabled veteran businesses during both the. Phase One is well underway and we're now focused on engaging the small and disabled veteran business communities about subcontracting opportunities for phase two construction. Construction opportunities during phase two include reinforcing steel platform canopy steel utility relocations. Both wet and dry materials, such as aggregates, lumber, pipe drainage and water trucking station finishes, which will include tactile strip map cases, trash cans and pavers, QC inspection, flat work including curb, gutter, and sidewalk, AC paving, CIDH subcontracting, fencing and gates, regulatory and wayfinding signage, traffic control, roadway striping, construction, staking survey, miscellaneous metals, construction materials, supplies and consumables, piping, formwork material and aggregates, precast structures, electrical including station electrical traffic signals, St. lighting and bike path lighting, construction trailers, office furniture, computers, printers and plotters, office supplies and services such as janitorial services, security guard services and staffing support services.
