ABOUT THE PROJECT
Project Overview
The LACMTA G-Line (previously Orange Line) is an existing bus route within a dedicated corridor running through the San Fernando Valley. It extends from the North Hollywood B-Line station to the Chatsworth Metrolink Station in the northwest of the valley.
The G-Line BRT Improvements Project will improve the existing Bus Rapid Transit system by reducing travel times and improving safety. This will be achieved through design and construction of the project’s key elements including:
Grade Separation and Aerial Station at Sepulveda Blvd
Grade Separation and Aerial Station at Van Nuys Blvd / Vesper Ave
Railroad-Style Gated Intersections for At-Grade Crossings
Stormwater Capture Systems
Bike Path Improvements
LA Metro has selected Valley Transit Partners to both design and construct the project through the Progressive Design Build alternative delivery method.
Progressive Design-Build
LA Metro is delivering this project via the progressive design-build alternative delivery method. The progressive design-build delivery method combines the benefits of design-build and construction manager/general contractor (CMGC). This maximizes collaboration between the owner (LA Metro) and the the designer / contractor. This two-phased approach includes preconstruction and construction services and as such, presents opportunities for small business and disabled veteran business enterprises during both design and construction.
